I bought The BFG in Edinburgh in the summer of 2012 (three cheers for dates in the front), while I was working at one of the venues of the Fringe Festival. When I was little, my mum read the Dutch translation, De Grote Vriendelijke Reus, to my brothers and me many times, and I’m sure I also read it more than once myself. Together with The Twits it’s my favourite Roald Dahl. To make the translation funny for Dutch children, most of the language jokes are changed. That’s why, after having studied English for a year, I bought the original to enjoy the story anew.
Today’s book was picked by my darling friend Marieke, with whom I always have really good discussions about the books we loved as children. *Hi Miek!*
What’s your favourite Roald Dahl?
‘The Weather Today’ is a challenge I set myself in which every day(ish) I will take a random book from my bookshelves and write a few sentences about it.
*Hi Emmie!*
Do I HAVE to pick a favourite? ‘Cause I think it’s a tie between Matilda, The BFG, and Esio Trot… Oh, and I kind of LOVE The Witches, too?
(I give up.)

Ahhh, Esio Trot is really good too! And I have never read The Witches, for shame :O. I’m adding it to my to-read list.

Mine is Matilda, though I haven’t read a good amount of Roald Dahl’s books.
