(Don’t get me wrong, I do LOVE poetry and discussions.) I liked this tag as soon as I saw it, and bookmarked it for a rainy day. The sun is shining brightly at the moment (26°C in October!*) but what the hell, let’s have some fun!

The You’re Not Good Enough Tag was created  by BookTubers ReadLikeWildfire and Beccathebookreviewer (I can’t find any working links to their original video’s, sorry). I came across it on the Bookgraphy blog where Maria does a great Harry Potter edition of this tag.

Rules:

  • Write 30 character names on pieces of paper.
  • Put them in a jar/mug/cup.
  • Randomly choose two pieces of paper for every question. In each of the 15 questions, you have to decide which of the two characters fits the question and which one is not good enough.

Here we go:

1. You only have one more spot on your spelling bee team. Who do you pick to complete your team? Emma Woodhouse or Mary Crawford

Emma doesn’t seem to have finished a book in her life, so her spelling is probably not the best. Mary Crawford it is! She seems pretty sharp, but if she turns out to be a bad speller she could always manipulate the judges into giving us a prize anyway.

2. Both characters want to kill you. Which one would you kill first so you have a better chance of surviving? Mr Knightley or Marianne Dashwood

Oh dear, a horrible choice! I do see a more dangerous nemesis in Mr Knightley, so I’m sorry man, but you have to go..

3. You’re on the Bachelor/Bachelorette and you’re down to these two characters. Which one are you going to give your rose to? Fanny Dashwood or Harriet Smith

I assume you give a rose to the person you like the most? Well, guess who I’m choosing! Harriet may not be the world’s brightest girl, but at least she’s kind. And I’m sure she would make a devoted girlfriend.

Look at how patiently she listens to him explaining crop rotation!

4. You’ve been chosen for the hunger games. Who would most likely volunteer in your place? Elizabeth Bennet or Anne Elliott

Sweet Anne, she would volunteer in a heartbeat and probably get murdered in the first few minutes of the games, so I hope Lizzie gets there first. Anyone who’s read or seen Pride and Prejudice and Zombies knows she’s very good with a sword.

pride and zombies

5. You’re stranded on an island with an active volcano. Which character would you throw into a volcano as a sacrifice? Captain Wentworth or Lydia Bennet

I absolutely adore Lydia Bennet, so Captain Wentworth will have to go.

6. You’re the next DC/Marvel superhero (with your own t.v. show, of course). Who is your sidekick? George Wickham or Mr Woodhouse

George Wickham, of course! I can picture us gallivanting around the world, saving people from their local villains wherever we go. As soon as we’ve left for the next town, they’ll discover that their best liquor is gone and their nicest girls have fallen in love with us… [Ok, so I’m trying not to be too sexist here, but its the regency era so it’s very hard!]

Mr Woodhouse would only worry that I’d catch cold in my superhero costume…

7. You’re a manager of an avocado-admiring company. Who would you fire for lack of communication skills? Mr Crawford or Caroline Bingley

Hmm. I do enjoy a good avocado, but I’m not into them THAT much.. I’m sure Caroline talked me into it. I’d fire Mr Crawford for using incredibly cringey pick-up lines on all of our female customers. Women don’t fall in love with you just because you want them to, Henry! (Perhaps I’d let Caroline fire him for me. That would be a great show!)

8. You’ve just finished a book in which your favourite character dies. Which character is most likely to comfort you? Captain Benwick or Lady Catherine de Bourgh

Benwick and I could read depressing poetry together and wallow in our misery.

9. Ugh, it’s high school. Who would most likely be part of the popular clique? Frank Churchill or Mary Bennet

My money’s on Mr “goes all the way to London to have his hair cut”.

210x

10. The day has arrived – you’re finally a year older! Who would have the nerve to forget your birthday? Mrs Bennet or Jane Bennet

Mrs Bennet would deliberately forget my birthday if I smiled too nicely at one of the young men of good fortune she considers the rightful property of some one or other of her daughters. Oops.

11. You’ve just found an upcoming BookTube star! Who would it most likely be? Elinor Dashwood or Mr John Knightley

Mr John Knightley would have a weekly show where he disapproves of everything. Like John Oliver, only blunter and snarky-er.

12. Sleepover time! Unfortunately, you can only invite one person. Who would you invite?Catherine Morland or Mr Bennet

Catherine and I would have a lovely time reading books and gossiping about the boys we like.

13. Bam, you’re pregnant. Who’s the father/mother? Colonel Brandon or Mr Bingley

Bingley would probably be the warmer, more cheerful father I would want to raise my kid with. On the other hand …

14. You’ve just written a super important text. Who would see it, but not reply? Mr Darcy or Lady Susan

Mr Darcy is too much of a gentleman not to reply, so it’s

giphy (8)

She’s probably too busy seducing another handsome fool.

15. You’ve just woken up and it’s time for breakfast. Your mum’s been replaced by… who?! Mrs Weston or Mr Willoughby

Mrs Weston I hope! She’d have the pancakes ready before I was dressed, listen to all my stories and make me feel infinitely cleverer than I really am.

  1. hahaha nooo can’t believe you just killed Mr Knightley!! (understandable though, given the circumstances). Fair call with Harriet. Yeah Captain Wentworth can go for sure. And I agree with your pick of George Wickham.hahha Caroline Bingley would definitely be the kind of person to talk someone into that.Catherine would be a great friend to have at a sleepover. Awesome answers! Love that you did this with all Austen characters!

    1. 😀 Glad you liked it! Have you seen Lost in Austen? It gives a whole new spin to the Wickham thing (I’m not sure I believe that that is what really happened but it is interesting to see Darcy portrayed as a bit naïve due to his pride). Thanks for stopping by 🙂
