5 Books To Get You Into The Winter Spirit

Let’s be honest, winter can be a bit shit. It’s cold, dark, the trees are bare and everything is a bit depressing. Fortunately it also has its upsides: think warm jumpers, cups of tea, cosy blankets… These five books will remind you of those.

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. This book’s protagonist, Margaret Lea, knows no better way to spend an evening than to huddle under the covers with a good book and will thereby definitely remind you of the joys of winter. Margaret is asked to write the biography famous author Vida Winter and slowly unravels this woman’s mysterious past.

Bookending Winter 2019 Announcement!

It’s almost time for the Bookending Winter event!

Fellow bookbloggers Sam @ Fictionally Sam and Clo @ Cuppa Clo organize Bookend Events each season to bring the book blogging community closer together & inspire each other with fun prompts. There will be a prompt for each day of December, and to participate you have to do a minimum of 3 of them. Sounds doable, right? I had a lot of fun with this event last year (which this picture is actually from— I haven’t set up a Christmas tree yet).

This year, I’m going to be one of the hosts! My hosting dates are the 16th – 18th of December and you can expect following from me: Continue reading “Bookending Winter 2019 Announcement!”

Christmas Character Tag | Bookending Winter 2018

I was tagged by the lovely Mandy @ Devouring Books to do this Christmas Character Tag. The tag was originally created by Anthony @ Keep Reading Forward as part of this year’s Bookending Winter event.

As today is the first day of Christmas, I figured I’d better get round to putting the finishing touches on this post… If you’re reading this after the holiday, you may consider this my Christmas card — prepared in advance but sent out on the day so it’s sure to arrive too late. Christmas Cover Hunt | Bookending Winter 2018

Do you know that feeling of enthusiastically starting a new project but then slacking off because real life catches up with you? I’m sure you do. This happened to my Bookending Winter 2018 for a bit, but now I’M BACK! (For at least one post.)

Today’s prompt is a few days old, but no less fun for that. The idea comes from Julia @ Fable Hunter.

Prompt Title: Christmas Cover Hunt

Explanation: Find 5-10 book covers in red, green, silver or gold. Bonus points if it is Christmas themed (snow, trees, presents, wreaths, etc..). Continue reading “Christmas Cover Hunt | Bookending Winter 2018”

Winter Wonderland | Bookending Winter 2018

Prompt by Anthony @ Reading Forward: Winter Wonderland – It’s a Snow Day! Now what?

So a Snow Day is a day on which you don’t have to go to school or work because it’s snowing too much, right? I think my country just doesn’t get cold enough for this, but it sounds wonderful to dream about. What would I do with such a day? Continue reading “Winter Wonderland | Bookending Winter 2018”

Dear Santa… | Bookending Winter 2018

BW writing 2LDear Santa,

I don’t think we have met before. As a Dutch girl I am accustomed to write letters to your colleague Sinterklaas but I am excited for this chance to write to you today. I think I have been fairly good this year. I have been nice to a lot of people (not everyone of course), kept most of my plants alive and made some important life decisions.

I have thought long and hard about what I would like to put on my wish list, and I came up with the following: Continue reading “Dear Santa… | Bookending Winter 2018”
