This book was given to me for my birthday by my friend Anne (from the great blog Books, Baking and Blogging), who cleverly had a quick look through my Goodreads to-read list when picking a present :). I had wanted to try this book for a while, because I thought the idea of someone who can taste people’s emotions in food is very fascinating. When I read it about a month ago, I wasn’t disappointed. I found the beginning a bit hard to get through, possibly because Bender doesn’t write the voice of a nine-year-old as well as protagonist Rose at other ages later on. However, the book was interesting enough to make me want to read on and got much better as the story progressed. I mainly enjoyed the combination of something as fantastical as Rose’s gift with the raw, real life feeling of the emotions it uncovers.
‘The Weather Today’ is a challenge I set myself in which every day(ish) I will take a random book from my bookshelves and write a few sentences about it.
I’m glad you liked it! 😀
